Money Saving Guide for Authors and Writers
This article is bizarrely on a coupon website. It doesn’t really have a great deal to do with saving money, but it does have a lot of information all in one place including education and scholarships, manuscript formatting, editing, finding an agent, writing a book proposal, self-publishing steps, poetry resources, and writing conferences and organizations. Each section has a little bit of information and then links to more detailed sources. Thanks to Jess for finding and suggesting this article.
Computer Tools and Editing Software for Writers
This article is another headscratcher. It’s on a website offering computer training classes, but as far as I can tell, none are geared toward writing or the software mentioned in the article. Regardless, it’s an excellent list of software and apps that are helpful for research, planning out your story, writing, checking style and grammar, tracking word count and productivity, and even graphic design programs to help market your work. I would wholeheartedly agree with their recommendation of Grammarly. A few they didn’t mention but I’ve found helpful is Scrivener, Google Keep, and Elise Kova’s Writing and Publishing newsletter. Scrivner was the software I used for researching, plotting, writing, and formatting my novels. I use Keep instead of Evernote for anything I need to remember. Elise Kova is a successful self-published fantasy/romance author with two different newsletters: one about her books and the other about writing. The link above will just take you to the writing newsletter. Thanks to Willow for recommending this article.
